The Inaugural Muslim Jewish Interfaith Coalition forum, Aug 28th – Sep 1st 2018 in Essaouira, Morocco

The Muslim Jewish Interfaith Coalition’s inaugural forum will take place in Essauoira, Morocco, a coastal town, known for its long history of coexistence between Muslims and Jews between August 28th and September 1st 2018. The forum will accept a cohort of 70 young professionals, ages 23 – 35 , from all across the globe.

The forum will be centered around many different learning opportunities: small group discussions, Q&A sessions, workshops, networking sessions, expert presentations, and panel discussions. Participants will have many opportunities to choose between sessions based on their interests and curiosities. There will also be sessions designed to engage the entire cohort.

Some sessions will invite participants to engage around complex or controversial ideas and issues. These opportunities will be designed, facilitated, and processed with the thoughtful, intentional, and gentle openness that underlies all of our work. They will be offered in the service of strengthening the community we create.

In addition to engaging intellectually participants will have space to be creative, to connect spiritually, through prayer or other modalities, and, of course, to just ‘hang out and get real’ with new friends. In fact, the most meaningful conversations might happen at midnight, around a dinner table, in between laughing, sharing stories, and discussing ideas sparked by the days learning.

Participants will walk away from this forum with a more nuanced understanding of the theological, cultural, and deeply personal underpinnings of Judaism and Islam. Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of the complexity of the issues that often separate our communities as well as with a deeper appreciation for the values and experiences that bind us together.

We hope participants will bring what they learn back to their local communities in a way that serves tolerance, understanding, compassion, and peace.

Applications will be accepted from April 1st – June 15th, 2018. Participants will be accepted on a rolling basis:

This inaugural forum will be held in partnership with the Mimouna Association and under the patronage of André Azoulay, counselor to King Mohammed VI.

The Muslim Jewish Interfaith Coalition does not require payment of any participation fee and will provide accommodation for the duration of the forum, from the night of August 28th with check out on September 1st. During the form food (breakfast, lunch and dinner) will be provided by the forum organizers. However, the Muslim Jewish Interfaith Coalition does not provide any financial support for travel to/from the forum, visa applications or single room requests. Participants must plan accordingly for any additional daily expenses.

**For security reasons, the exact location of the forum will only be provided to those accepted and invited to attend the forum. Thank you for your understanding.
